Airline Ad Or 2:00AM SkineMax Flick!?!?

For the life of me, I can't quite figure out this commercial.

You've got to monochromatic film, the erotic smooth jazz soundtrack, about a half dozen subliminal phallic symbols, half dressed women and submissive Asian chicks.

All that's missing is the happy ending.

Question: Is this an ad for Korean Airlines or softcore pRon?!?

I'm not into Asians, or any other race besides black (nothing racial, just preference), but this chick is a standout--a shift of perspective for me.

It could be all that foreplay-- subliminal imagery which precedes her appearance on screen, climaxing into this sudden, unexpected shift of perspective for me--that is the driving force behind the shift.

Yeah, I'd say it's softpornertisement.

LOL - I remember seeing this ad on TV a couble of weeks ago, and the first thing I thought was that the guy who pops the cork while holding the champaign bottle at waist height was REALLY over the top. CTFU!

Remember the commercials they pitched in the movie Boomerang?!? That's what this commercial reminded me of. Remember Grace Jones as Strangé? That was hilarious.

I'm going to have to vote for soft porn on this one. Sadly, that doesn't mean a lot considering that many of the TV commercials have these typesof sexual overtones.

Nice commercial.

Soft erotica? Maybe so, but traditional asian culture has their women very submissive. They probably wouldn't see a problem with it.

I can't remember if this is true or not, but aren't Japanese businessmen able to enter hot tubs with their female counterparts?
Something like that, someone help me.

I know it's true that you can buy used female panties from back alley vending machines over there. Now that's icky! Google that.

I guess it's why a lot of Western men go to Asia to bring home a wife. You know what you're getting, and if you're into Asians, I guess it isn't bad.

I myself prefer my women more buxom. If I was single, I'd be off to Rio or Ipanema.

I see this commercial all the time - and I think that it's some Korean ad company's idea of what Americans want to see. The wording doesn't make much sense, but the imagery is enough to catch your eye. It kind of turned me off because of the lack of color. Except that minty green.

To quote Steely Dan and Donald Fagan: "What a beautiful world this would be, what a glorious time to be free."

Nice.

!!

Like most commercials, the message here is "Flying Korea Air will get you laid by hot stewardesses".

It seems like 90% of all commercials explain how the product will result in more sex for YOU.

It looks like one of those weird perfume commercials to me. Completely random, pointless, and supposed to be "artistic".

The commercial is artistic.

I have flown Korean Air Business Class many times. They are far superior to any american airline. The staff is attentive and they make a long flight comfortable.

I experienced the same "WTF does all this have to do with air travel ?!?" reaction to this commercial.

Deep.

uhm, no pun intended! LOL

All commercials are some variant of soft core porn, with the possible exception of a bunch of guys sitting in a garage singing "Viva, Viagra".

Still, every time this one comes on, I start paying attention.

Calm and quiet, if not exactly subtle.

Meh...

I just saw it last night (studying) thinking to myself "Wth are they advertising? An AIRLINE?!?!"

Btw...

It's good not to be arguing about politics.

I have seen this commercial over a dozen times. In the back of my mind I know what its about. But, I always convince myself that its a Tiffany's commercial until they show the plane.

what cheri t. and anonymous said!

Yes, it's soft porn. More obvious than even most commercials. Hey, times are tough in the airline industry.

Every time I see that ad I wonder if ALL their customers end up being straight males -- I can just see some guy trying to convince his wife to fly Korean Air based on that ad!

I think this is a direct response to the industry trend of cutting back on, or charging extra for flight services (you know, the above and beyond-the-call extras such as food and baggage check.)The message is that KAL is still a full-service airline.

"Full service"... if you know what I mean...

;)

I agree with msnegroesquire2004... I always associate this commercial with Tiffany's. I think it's intended to be artsy, and as someone said before, Korean Air's idea of what they feel appeals to dare I say, pampered Americans. Don't read too much into it.
