I knew things were rough over there at Def Jam, but I had no idea dudes were leaving the rap game altogether.
Uhhh, what's that you say??? Joe BIDEN for Veep?
Oh. My bad.
I don't have much to say about this. Discuss amongst yourselves.
Question: Is BIDEN the right choice or would BUDDEN help you out just as much?

Barack Obama and the Democrats have snatched defeat from from the jaws of victory.
Also Joe Biden suffers from foot in mouth disease and Biden also said early on the he didn't think Obama had enough experience to be President. McCain is going to use that.
Biden is the worst possible choice for veep. Hang experience, the dude is an ass. If Obama's going to lose, here's where he made his biggest mistake
This just made the DNC more interesting. Now, I wonder how the Clintonians will use this to further disrupt things.
I still say Obama should have a picked a female to run with him in the Edwards aftermath.
EG
Call me crazy, but I actually liked Clinton as a choice for Vice President, strategically.
Obama decided to go with an older more experienced head in Biden. Notwithstanding the charges for plagiarizing he's a solid VEEP choice.
This is interesting.
Most of my regular blog checks had most blacks in the blogosphere saying "Meh" when we received the "late in the midnight hour" text.
I know I'm def. saying meh.
My biggest problem is that he picked someone who CLEARLY is a Washington insider--dude's been there 30 years and I'm confrused then. I thought he was running on change in Washington.
That being said, I'm with Vee on this one. Hillary would have been his best pick. But she made herself so unlikeable I would have been mad at him if she had picked him. But real talk, she embodied all the characteristics that he needs prior to the race and if he gets elected, once in office.
Moreover, I think he lost a lotta of his women witnesses because they had so much hope--but it was all in Hillary. I mean if anyone thought he was going to pick Sebelius, they was honestly smokin' something.
@AB
Was this such a blase topic for you it didn't warrant a picture? lol
F***!!!! He's done--that's all I have for this.
*sigh*
I don't know much about this Biden character. I do know that I don't think Hillary would have been a good choice. Just my opinion.
Considering his available choices- I'm okay with Biden.; Hilliary was not a pass to victory. And she would have had problems trying to clarify all that she's said about Obama. Since Biden is the VP choice; if you're for Obama move on and face the real issues of our country.
Interesting pick, very interesting. It shows that the (mostly) Republican attacks on Barry's lack of experience, especially foreign policy experience, were taken seriously by at least Obama.
But the choice was a big surprise for me because it does nothing to bring in two traditionally-Democratic groups, with whom Barry has slipped....women and "older" Americans.
While I'm only barely part of that "over 40" demographic, I think I'm fairly safe in saying that most of us will have one of two responses when playing "free association" with the name Joe Biden.
He's either "that cockey sarcastic guy from the Clarance Thomas hearings," or "that guy who stole a whole speech from that British guy" (Neil Kinnock).
Because the latter story broke right in the middle of the first, the memory is still pretty fresh for us, even though it was nearly 20 years ago.
If Barry has no major skelatons in his closet, he should be fine. But if integrity and candor becomes an issue, and something major comes out that Barry appears to have hid, Biden will be cited a just "part of the pattern" and become a millstone around Barry's chances.
Who is Joe Biden

After reading some of these comments. I really beleive that we as a people should study politics more, Politics controls your life and it's not a popularity contest. Clinton just had too much baggage, and the republicans have been laying in wait for her for 8 years, they even knew when she went to the bathroom. Then came Obama, someone who they could not attack (dirty)Biden brings the good old boy vote, people who wanted to vote for Obama but needed a reason to see past his color, and Biden Brings that to the table.

Considering the alternatives, I think this was a good decision. Right about now, Obama needs an attack dog-and Biden fits the bill.
joe biden, wow. i don't think i can refigure the anita hill-hating memories to "change i can believe in". i understand obama has to play the game but still. this election has been so nasty and painful and it isn't even the primaries yet.
This was a total disaster of a choice. Lots of baggage (not just the plagarism), Washington insider, extreme liberal, and worst of all... Biden nullifies the Democratic age attacks on McCain.
Sorry anonymous, the regulars are right. Awful, awful choice.
After stepping back and looking at this, I don't think Biden's a terrible choice. Reality is, everyone on the shortlist had their flaws. Biden has his, but he also has the experience and cred to clap back at McCain, which is something Obama either can't or won't do.
I also think his blue collar background will be reassuring to those "middle-American" voters who just aren't comfortable with an exotic and elitist black dude as Prez. Maybe this makes Barry more palatable.
After thinking it over more, it doesn't seem like Biden is that much of a catastrophe for Obama. He still has me on edge a bit, but maybe that's because this is all so new and I know what's slipped out of his mouth in the past. Biden still gets the side-eye!
Looking on to the future and how his flippant nature could help/hurt my candidate... makes me nervous, yet excited! Some of that could pay off for Obama.
Let's just pray that the stuff he said earlier in the year about Obama not being ready to be president doesn't come back to bite him in the ass. Most republicans are a lot of things, but they remember EVERYTHING!
Let's just pray that the stuff he said earlier in the year about Obama not being ready to be president doesn't come back to bite him in the ass.
It will certainly come back to bite Obama. The question is whether or not it will leave any marks.
Perhaps Bush 41's most famous two words ever spoken were "voodoo economics," in reference to one of Reagan's proposals during the 1980 primary debates.
While the Dems wasted no opportunity to remind the Republicans of that, it never seemed to get any traction, and certainly didn't hurt Reagan's electability or legacy.
The first thing Biden said about Obama, back when he started his own Primary campaign:
"the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy."
Biden on Obama: He's so well spoken!
This is the Democratic VP? hahaha. Vice President FAIL.
Come on people! Please read a little bit more on politics and about this man called Joe Biden. I called this pick on my blog a week ago as the best possible choice even with the baggage of Biden's mouth.
Even with the "clean, articulate . . ." gaffe, I still defended him (hel-lo Barack even came to his defense) because his heart is in the right place, his mouth on the other end hasn't caught up to speed.
The polls are tightening up (a confounding fact to me) even when we have an unpopular president and war. So Barack needed an attack dog who will do it with a smile and better, the guy has foreign policy chops and his son is to the said war come October.
I meant Biden's son (Delaware's Attorney General) is going to Iraq as a reserve.
@ spool- i was totally put off by the "articulate" comment. but listening to bidem speak on saturday afternoon gave me a totally different perspective. i think it was a heartfelt compliment because biden is so INARTICULATE!!! i think he truly admires barack for his facility with words. biden really struggled through that speech. but he did straight COME FOR mccain THREE times so i give him major cred for that. attack dog, indeed. that being said, i still can't rationalize the "clean" comment...
i'm nervous about how biden might effect barack's chance at election. but we must keep in mind, while the election is critical, the main job of the vp comes post innauguration. i think biden will be good in that role. i was in high school during the clarence thomas hearings and way too busy with hours of homework to keep up with the news so i don't remember biden during that time. i've only heard negative things about him so i wasn't thrilled when i received my 3 am text. my 4-year old even tried to console me (perfect example of why we must mind what we expose our children to) by saying, "well mom, maybe we can learn to like him and then vote for them" this touched my heart and the "linking" part actually came to pass when i heard barack introducing biden. i had no previous knowledge of biden's personal life- working class background, having lost a wife and a daughter in an accident, commuted to and from dc from de everyday to raise his boys on his own, missing his swearing in to instead be at his sons' bedsides (who were also injured in the accident), and the fact that his son is no AG of DE and headed to do a tour in iraq...this stuff counts to me. it says a lot about his character and that means a lot. what turs me off about mccain is not just his policies but who he is as a person. his morals suck. serving in the military does not automatically make you a "good american". case in point- how many soldiers beat the hell out of their wives?? mccain is an elitist, social-climbing adulterer. it is disgracefu how he treated his first wife after she stood by and waited years for his tortured behind to come home. now he's high post, living off his wife's BEER money, and considers the middle class to include those who make a mere $1 million a year. what a joke.

Let's just pray that the stuff he said earlier in the year about Obama not being ready to be president doesn't come back to bite him in the ass.
Oh please. A well-placed Biden flip -flop on this can make it go away fast.
How about a blurb something like... "I had an opportunity to observe Obama and get to know him, and I've learned that he's more than qualified and even more than ready to run this country."

His other son is a lobbyist. ;)
@hawa:
And the response would be "So Biden was willing to disparage and insult people in order to get elected, even though he didn't know the target of his vicious attacks. This is the person Obama wants to run the country in the event of his untimely death?"
Biden was an awful choice. It's true that some good could come of it, but he'll have hurdles to get over and that's the last thing Obama needs, now that he's losing his base, losing the popular election polls, and even losing in some electoral college maps.
Democrats need to pray that Biden can pull north PA into the blue column, because he's going to be a liability in a lot of other places.
