While many folks assume his career's dead, everyone's favorite exiled comedian continues to do shows at comedy clubs nationwide. He recently did an astounding 5 hour set at LA's Laugh Factory. I know what you're saying... "5 hours? I don't want to watch anyone do anything for 5 hours." I mostly agree, but I once saw Chappelle do a set at the Improv here in DC, which pushed 3 hours. It never got boring. Not once. He even opened the floor and took questions about various stuff from the audience. It was still funny. The guy's just that good. Maybe there's another HBO special or TV show on the way, maybe not. Either way, the guy's clearly not starving, and clearly still funny.
Here's a small clip of the marathon 5 hour show, I'm hoping they'll release more at some point, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Bonus footage from someone's phonecam. Dave talks about Obama.
Question: You ever seen Dave Chappelle perform live? Who's the funniest comedian you've ever seen live?

Never seen Dave live but I did catch Chris Rock doing an impromptu set once in NYC. Like he was just chilling in the audience and decided to hop up and do an hour long set. It was fall off your chair, pee your pants raw-n-uncut funny. He went in.
I'd love to see Dave live, I'd bet Paul Mooney kills too though, negrodamus still cracks me up.
My son introduced me to Dave Chappelle, when he was on the Dave Chappelle show. That dude is FUNNY!
5 hours is insane, I'd love to see Chappelle go two hours, let alone 5.
The only professional standup comic I've seen live is Seinfeld and he's pretty damn funny, but he only went one and a half hours.
I've never seen Dave live but dude is, by far, the funniest damn comedian I've ever come across! There is something so incredibly likeable about Dave. He seems down-to-earth and funny on so many levels.
His character skits (i.e Rick James, Prince) are unmatched in tv comedy.
And why would anyone think Dave's career is "dead"? Dude is taking a much deserved sabitical. He may be working on new material or just chilling.
Dave will be back...and funnier than ever.
let's see, I have seen Jackie Mason, Bob Newhart, Bill Cosby -- twice, Billy Crystal, Robert Klein, his name escapes me right now but he played JJ on Good Times, Rodney Dangerfield and if I think about it I could probably come up with a few more. They were all funny and they were all different. In my opinion, there was nobody funnier than Richard Pryor. In the late 70s and early 80s Richard Pryor ruled.
Unfortunately, some of our greatest comedians have had some self-destructive tendencies. Richard Pryor is an excellent example of that along with Freddie Prince. Dave Chapelle seems to have some of those self-destructive tendencies.
I can't believe that Dave is back until he returns regularly to film and television.
That interview with Oprah still has him blacklisted in my opinion.

I'm sorry. How can you explain that someone as talented as Chappelle is NOT on any network since that interview???
Not buying it.
I saw Dave Chappelle at DAR Constitution Hall in DC. That show was almost as funny as Paul Mooney at the Improv in DC.
