What's On AB's iPod?: Kanye West - "808s & Heartbreak"

I'm not even sure if you guys are checkin' for this feature anymore, but just in case, you might wanna cop Kanye West's newest LP, 808s and Heartbreak. I don't do music reviews, but if you're into 80's pop music and vocoders, you'll prolly dig this.

Peep the lead single "Love Lockdown". I'll admit, I didn't care much for this song, and still don't. I guess it just continues Kanye's strange pattern of poorly chosen lead singles.

Far better is the followup effort, "Amazing". Give Kanyeezy extra credit for out-of-the-box video, as usual. It makes zero sense, but it sure is interesting.

The rest of the album is a pretty unique mix of drum & bass, excessive synths, and minimal guest appearances. All the singing and flagrant use of auto-tune don't distract from the outlandish beats. I'd personally prefer Kanye kickin' his usual corny 16 to this string of T-Pain rip-offs, but the album is so sonically brilliant you can give that a pass.

Kanye sounds pretty sad on this album. I actually like it. He's going through stuff and he's working it out. That's a good thing. :)

great album from a great artist....yes, i want to see him do some shit more in the vein of college dropout, etc. but i think it's good to break it up a bit

sad kanye isn't nearly as bad as i thought he would be.

hopefully, good ass job comes out after this though.

808s and heartbreak is truly brilliant, wonderfully unique.
