WHAT THE BLOODY EFFIN' HELL?!?!?!?
You can't make this %#@! up.
But the framing of this is even more ridiculous than the actual "event".
Let me get this straight---MSNBC's idiot camera crew are stupid enough to roll tape while THAT'S going on in plain sight, they KEEP rolling for minutes on end while turkey after turkey gets bumped off----and they're acting like this reflects badly on PALIN?! You have got to be kidding me.
I don't watch MSNBC except for Olbermann and Maddow, but I just lost all respect for them as a news organiztion if they're going to be this obnoxious and unprofessional. Seriously, this is a sick joke. You don't get to frame innocent bystanders, as Governor Pitbull was in this case, for YOUR screwup.
Mrs. Palin:
Go home. Stay there before you aren't able to show your face in any of the 50 states.
No, you weren't the one giving the business to the turkey. But if you had stayed home in the first place, the nations of the world wouldn't now use you as the eternal Thanksgiving joke.
For God's sake please take my advice. Making fun of you isn't fun anymore.
EG
So What, a turkey has to be killed if you want one for dinner. some people need to get a life. Palin does what she is in charged to do as Gov. People hate her cause she is 'the real deal', she's a woman that can survive, and many democrats hate that. By the way, everybody is watching her. Thats why democrats are still focused on her. They have to do everything possible to make sure she cannot run in 2012. As far as the turkey goes. Pluck the feathers, season him, bake him till done, then serve me some turkey with dressing.
What makes it so bad is that she says she knew what was going on in the background....
@ebony I agree, her 15 mins. are up.
As much as it hurts me to defend her, it isn't bad as much as it is comical. The woman is a goofball. She's good for a nice long chuckle, nothing more, nothing less.
Pretty soon she'll start getting blamed for global warming and the loss of spirit during Christmas time.
I love my turkey during Thanksgiving, so I do not appreciate them grossing me out with views on how they're slaughtered.
I'm only posting here to say I'm mad that you closed the CJames post before I had a chance to respond. I HAD SOMETHING TO SAY DAMMIT!
Palin continues to desire to remain in the headlines like a person suffering from a manipulative form of mental illness. She continues with inappropriate comments, laughter and behaviors that 'scream' notice me/pa attention to me.
@sing... I agree with you I had an unanswered question and for a guest post the comments were just getting started!
I seriously probably won't be able to eat Turkey this year after watching that. Being naive I thought they just butchered them literally by cutting the head off.
Anywho, I'm don't think anyone is saying she's a bad person for this. Again, its comical and another one of her , "Oops, I did it again" She needs to think, befor she acts. Lets be real most people that pardon turke's are probably going to eat one on Turkey Day. But you can't mak me believe for one instant that she had no clue that was going on behind her. Like she magically got zapped in place infront of the camera. She walked to where the camera was, knowing what wa going on around her. Common sense would have said, hey I just pardoned a turkey so maybe we need to do this interview in a diferent area and not infront of the gas o whatever they use machines to kill them.
Any bets on Family Guy using this as a cutaway joke?
[Stewie and Brian are washing a car]
Stewie: Man, this car is dirty.
Brian: Yup, downright filthy. Almost like that time Sarah Palin did that interview in front of those turkeys getting slaughtered.
Stewie: Um, no that joke failed. Let's not do the cutaway.
Brian: Well, we already set it up. So let's just show it anyway.
Stewie: No, I just don't think that.. [the show cuts away to the spoof anyway]
HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY!
@ZACK
YESSSSSSSSSS!!! I will die a happy man if i see this lampooned on Family Guy put, in loop!!!
But, yeah, this doesn't make her a bad person, just aloof as hell. Just like the prank call with the Canadian radio show. I mean, because she got the crap punked out of her, doesn't make her a bad person, just aloof as hell. She's turned into the Gerald Ford of our day.
She's like the patron who would go to a Bernie Mac stand up in this decade wearing a Karl Kani outfit and sit on the first row. She leaves herself open to this.
Where is PETA when you "need" them??
I still don't see how this reflects at all on Palin as opposedto MSNBC. Unless, of course, what EBW said is true, and she did indeed know what was going on. (Where'd you read that?)
@ Bullet:
"People hate her cause she is 'the real deal', she's a woman that can survive, and many democrats hate that."
Tell me you don't REALLY think that's the reason.
I read yesterday--don't remember which site--that Palin absolutely knew the slaughter was going on behind her. The camera crew asked her if this was a problem and her reply was "no worries". So, if this is correct it's indicative of a much larger problem. This is a woman who has a bear skin draped in her office and shoots wolves from helicopters. That's enough to bother many people--NOT just members of PETA.
She needs to go home and stay home. And let's hope Bush's last attempt to abolish protections for endangered species doesn't pass...'cause you know Ms. Sarah she would like to kill herself a polar bear...and drape that on her sofa too.
Karma is a b*tch.
re: Vanilla's last post (mine)

"This is the problem. Lack of perspective, lack of empathy and lack of understanding that this just might be controversial.
Scott Jensen is the one who filmed the scene. He’s local station KTUU’s award winning chief photographer. He told CC from KUDO radio yesterday that Sarah Palin, who was standing next to her personal assistant throughout the entire interview, chose the spot on which she stood for the “turkey slaughter interview” that quickly went viral on the internet, and received wide coverage in the news media. The turkey slaughter was already underway when the governor chose the spot. The photographer pointed out what was going on and asked her if she wanted to move. She said, “No worries.”
Several of her staff were present the entire time while the journalism-major-turned-governor spoke to the people. And then there was the actual footage of her looking at the guy while he was killing the turkeys."
***Just a thought that many folks DON'T see their food slaughtered and would prefer not to. And, I'm sure the kids in the room will be traumatized for for a good while.
So many members of PETA (especially the large amount of white women that you frequently see protesting), were no where to be seen when Palin was running for VP. Apparently no one cared about the animals in Alaska.
Ummm, wowwww.....
In that case, I take absolutely everything I said back. I have been officially owned.
(I still don't know why this Scott Jensen schmoe didn't INSIST on another angle, though.)
This speaks volumes, to me at least, of just how provincial she is. Apparantly it never occured to her that outside of her hunting, roughing-it cultural landscape, others might not be so comfortable watching animals slaughtered on national television.
@ Cinco
There are several groups that are currently working to have aerial hunting of wolves outlawed. The Bush administration and state governments (i.e. Alaska) have made it very hard to, once and for all, outlaw the practice. But the hunting of other species, in season, is perfectly legal so PETA doesn't have much of a legal leg to stand on. They will prosecute illegal hunters (i.e. whaling, etc) but it's an on-going battle.
Believe me, I'm familiar with many of the environmental groups and Palin's name crossed my email many, many, many times. Alaska is a "hot spot" for environmentalists due to oil, global warming, endangered species, aerial hunting, etc.
P.S. It's not just white chicks protesting but we do represent, don't we!
@ Marbles , I most certainly DO
again 'the real deal' and democrats hate it.
@Vanilla,
I meant no disrespect. Most minorities I know aren't concerned about saving animals. Some of us still don't. Believe in vet care for our pets... Our priorities seem to start and end a little bit higher on the food chain. I'm not judging or apologizing just admitting an awareness for some of us.
Last I checked, we are numero UNO on the food chain, unless dinos come back for some Primal Rage.
As my Dad says, "This turkey/chicken/pig died so that I may live."
Dang straight.
I can guarantee that if there was only one chicken/ham/turkey left on earth, the PETA folks would kill each other to try and consume it.
There it is and there it was. OMNIVORES 4-EVER!
EG
@EG
I'm totally with you. Where i draw the line with the butchering of animals is when it causes a health/sanitary problem and when they start feeding the ground animals back to the animals.
Seriously, no one was complaining about this when meat wasnt processed. back in the day it was all good.

@ Bullet:
Well. I don't even know where to start. You've swallowed some pretty vapid talking points.
For sure, the initial media reaction to Palin was appallingly sexist, and that was inexcusable. Disgusting. But to take that and turn it into "Democrats are threatened by the real deal" is willfully ignorant on several fronts. At best, it's an extreme form of wishful thinking. At worst, it's a dangerous delusion that could send the GOP even further over the edge.
What, exactly, is the "real deal"? What does that mean to you? (And I mean YOU. Not some pundit's regurgitated words.) And if she's the "real" deal, who represents the phony one?
And most importantly of all, since you believe so stongly in whatever you think she represents, I'm very curious to know what your priorities are in a candidate for national office.
@ Cinco
No disrespect taken, Cinco. I wasn't the least bit offended. I just wanted to let you know that many groups are disgusted with her extremely anti-environmental, inhumane beliefs & actions.
Yes, I'm very much an animals right advocate and I'm one of the ones who would like to educate...not preach or chastize.
I know folks enjoy meat..I just think many really don't want to see how it's handled prior to and during its death.
If the general public knew what livestock was fed and how it was treated prior to slaughter they would probably reconsider eating in. Again, each individual is free to choose. I do eat fish so I'm really in no position to preach to anyone.
I would recommend that for those of you who do eat meat try and buy from a local butcher (if they're still in your area) or buy free range/organic. Yes, it does make a difference and your body will thank you.
Just a friendly thought from one of AB's tree-hugging, hippy liberals! Let me say it now, y'all have a great Thanksgiving--regardless of what you're eating!!
:-)
Ok that was wrong on so many levels. If (apparently she did) Palin knew about it she was wrong for letting them film there. The cameraman was wrong for not insisting on changing the angle, as well as her assistants/advisers, or whoever else was around. Hell, why didn't the man slaughtering the turkeys ask them to change angles? I'm personally not affected by seeing that especially since the part we really don't wanna see was blurred out and I'm not sure what the hell they was doing. I'm sure if I could see it I would be affected.
@EG,
lol, but true for some.
I have true vegans in my family and once upon a time I was married to one as well. It has no effect on me. I chose to eat meat and I enjoy it. I try to do my part in saving the earth; eating healthy and taking care of myself but I won't fight to save the lives of animals when too many children are dying in this world. We all have are causes and I respect those that may make different choices but I have no plans to fight for the rights of domestic pets, wild game or extinct animals!
@singlikesassy
I am upset with that too. You can't shut down the voices of the people.
I don't really understand how this reflect badly on her. This is how the food gets to your plate. In a subliminal sense it's actually quite gangsta. She's really saying, "Do you see what's going on behind me? If you get in my way to the Oval office, this is what might happen to you!"
I have to call bullshit on the news reporter... I mean, look. That camera could have turned seven degrees of a rightward shift and centered Palin on the screen... he chose to frame it with her on one side and the slaughter guy on the other.
Marbles, you had it right. Don't let somebody toss "award-winning" in a comment put you off your first read. What, do you think MSNBC didn't cheer this guy nonstop after it "went viral"? And he's gonna say in an interview, "oh, yeah my bad, it was all me." Kieth Olbermann probably invited him and the wife over for a "humanely transitioned" turkey dinner on Thursday.
BS.
And all the rest of you people who are getting the vapors over seeing a turkey killed... I have no words for that nonsense.
It makes me wonder: is there something about the attitude of "I know it's true, but I just don't want to think about it, I prefer not to see this" that maps as a predictor of political philosophy? I'm just sayin, is all... Man up; stuff dies to feed you. You want people to cuddle the steer to death before they carve it up and ship it to the supermarket?
Please. I bet some of y'all order your steak well done so you don't have to look at all that icky red juice.
@spool
Funny man. I have noticed that Uppity Negroes get their steaks medium. Growing up, I didn't know there was any other way to get a steak. Well-Done was the only option. I have gone as low as medium rare.
@ Spool
"Man Up"?? I'd think if you had younger kids in the room you may not want them watching that. Yep, animals die to feed people everyday but it was an unnecessary shot...whether you want to blame it on Palin or the camerma man/woman.
This coming from a guy who was offended over EVERY little comment about Palin or conservatives...show some sensitivity...blah blah blah...and you're gonna tell folks to "man up" about watching a slaughter?
Spare me on your manly bullshit.
This was national tv and it didn't need to go down like that. Tell me you take your kids to a slaughterhouse and show 'em what they're having for dinner.
It certainly was an unnecessary shot... that was my first point. A few degrees of rotation, and this interview never gets watched.
I'm not going to go so far as to say that shielding your kids from the source of their food is gutless... but I will say that there's no need to hyperventilate over it. Traumatized? Kids aren't that fragile and treating them as such is, IMHO, a bad idea.
Would I take my kids to a slaughterhouse? Maybe. They've helped me gut, clean, dress, cook, carve, and eat a turkey before, not to mention innumerable fish, chickens, crabs, crawfish, and live lobster.
I certainly wouldn't shy away from a trip to the slaughterhouse because I thought they should be protected from the sight. They've been with me while I picked cuts from a fresh side of beef hanging from a hook in the butcher shop, and watched me skin a deer... it wouldn't be much of a stretch, and certainly wouldn't do them any harm.
Also, what's with the comparison between offense at dishonest political attacks and offense at watching animals die? I don't get how those two things are related at all. Maybe, like hiding your eyes from the nasty killing part, you'd rather conservatives ideas die without knowing just how the feat is accomplished?
Hey, if you're gonna make the strained analogy, I'm happy to go along.
@Spool
My reference was about respecting and being sensitive to other points of views and opinions...
And in many parts, maybe not TX, it's not common to take a child to a slaughterhouse or have them participate in skinning/gutting animals.
Try not to be so condescending in your messages, Spool. You come off rather rudely even though you have some valid points. It defeats your message.
This is silly. The leftist illuminati would criticize Sarah for parting her hair the wrong way. I bet this was done on purpose, to have ammunition.
"Sarah Palin kills turkeys, black children will be next if she is not stopped!"
Satisfied now? Good.
The foolishness that MSNBC has turned into is so obvious its no longer amusing. However, as long as they hold Barack Obama in high regard it wont matter to a vast majority of black people.
Some of them, and Chris Mathews in particular, already outed themselves as being biased. At least now that their task in helping the Obama campaign is completed they are being honest.
(off topic)
And before we get stared on Fox, Center for Media and Public Affairs (CMPA) said they were actually the most balanced.
(end off topic)
Seriously though its getting rediculous.
I watched Wild Kingdom in the 70's and rooted for the preditors as they got busy in the bush. Whats the big deal?
@spool: It makes me wonder: is there something about the attitude of "I know it's true, but I just don't want to think about it, I prefer not to see this" that maps as a predictor of political philosophy?
Please! Are you kidding? You know this is absolutely true. You are just throwing this naive question out there right?
Some people see what they *want* to see in order to make themselves feel better, bolster their faith or make excuses for failure. The truth, when it comes to certain people never matters.
@vanilla:
Point taken. The whole flap over this just irks the hell out of me. It feels like an experiment to discover many levels of hypocrite we can stuff into one meme. Aren't some of the same people freaking over this also to be found defending realistic murder of humans on TV and in video games?
I know there are lots of kids who've never seen a dead turkey with the feathers still on, but IMHO that screws them up more than being part of the process of preparing the food they eat. Before long we'll be hiding the eggs so they don't see baby chicks turn into breakfast. :(
Is it really that rare for people to bring home a fresh fish and clean it? To me, that's much more of a tragedy than having your kids glimpse a turkey slaughter on TV.
@daedalus:
I was trying to be generous... don't call me out when I'm giving people the benefit of the doubt here! That ain't right...
;)
@spool, I was about to say in my "CJ from Grand Theft Auto Voice": "Caught slippinagain!"
Well, its the holiday season. You can be generous if you want... I however, will be scrooge.
I just thought it was funny. Period. Not horrifying. Not hypocritical. Just a little humorous. Seems like a lot of discussion about nothing really.
