Why You Should Never Ask A Rapper About Politricks: Exhibits J-M

I figured that whole "ask a rapper about politics" tip that the MSM was on during the Democratic primaries was merely a passing fad. The joke's on me apparently.

Somebody interrupted Method Man from his afternoon shift at the Sizzler long enough to get his quote on Barry 4 Prez. Hilarity, and idiocy ensue.

Wu-Tang vet Method Man has invited presidential candidate Barack Obama to join him on the streets of Compton in Los Angeles, reports say. The rapper is a big fan of the Democrat but insists that no new president should be allowed to lead the country without visiting the toughest areas of America.

"My people never feel the affects of who changes the world or who’s in office because it never trickles down that low on the scale," he says.

"We don’t feel the President’s power down there (in Compton), we just feel the poverty. Blessings to Obama and the whole Obama click. Hopefully he’ll bring his ass to Compton and walk through the war zone to see what it is.

"Somebody told me, ‘Why would he go there; that’s dangerous.’ That’s why he should go!"
Apparently neither Mr. Meth, nor the inquisitive interviewer has bothered to read Mr. Obama's bio. They'd clearly see the whole "community organizer" and "Southside of Chicago" items. But hey, why let common sense get in the way of a good quote?

Not to be outdone is my favorite (t)rapper, Young Jeezy. Last month, Jeezy and John McCain just happened to be guests on Saturday Night Live, and as with most shows, at the end, all cast members embrace and exchange pleasantries. I happened to watch this episode (because my wife likes Usher for some reason) and also noticed when McCain and Jeezy exchanged words. I wondered exactly what a fake thug and a real thug would have in common.[1]
"No disrespect to my man Barack, but I [bleeped] with John McCain. He greeted me like a god," Jeezy, who has endorsed Barack Obama, tells Vibe magazine. "The fact that he acknowledged me was crazy. I said, 'I'm Young Jeezy, and it's rough out here.' He blew me off at first. I was like, 'Nah, for real. It's rough out here, so what you gonna do to change it?' . . . And he gave me a look back, like, 'I know.' "
Uh, okay, I guess that makes some sense.

Needless to say, after some focus group told Jeezy that endorsing a GOP candidate isn't good for street cred, he backpedaled like Charles Woodson and clarified that he's strictly for Obama.

Not that he'll be voting of course. You know, Systematic Disenfranchisement and whatnot.

I think McCain is the realest nucca of the two. Can't you see him whoopin' on Jeezy like Stinkmeyer from The Boondocks?

I have to say that Method Man has point. Obama has been my choice since way back when, but, here in Philly, candidates never come to the neighborhood in which I live. I tire of politicians coming by the churches as if they've been coming all along, stopping for five minutes at a rally with the usual packaged comments. Let those who would lead see how the people live. Peace.

I'm with blackstarr.

Since you've told me in the past that I always write dumb shit on your blog- I'll leave it at that.

[That is, until you call me out like you've been doing on the sly lately] :)

Shouldn't Meth be taking Barack to Bed Stuy or the Boogie Down BX?? Compton??? WTF????? Me real confused.

Barack is not coming to a ghetto near you anytime soon. Even he doesn't care about what the poor blacks think.

Wake up shit, no one is coming there for anything. Not for your 2 dollar cheese steak, not for the biggie tour in Bed Stuy, nor the NWA tour in Compton.

Most people there aren't going to vote anyway so why think Barack is any different.

@ singlike

McCain is definitely the trillest.

@ blackstarr

I agree with FreeMan. When folks in the hood start voting, Barack (and other politicians, even local ones who matter more) will start paying attention.

@ zack

Dude, what are you on? For the umpteenth time, I only read your blog out of curiosity when you come here and drop some thinly veiled plug. I don't have any beef with you, or any of your posts.

Get over it, please. It's becoming quite annoying.

@ Tiff

Yeah, wasn't Meth from Shaolin Isle? I guess he lives in LA now that he's "acting". But if that's true, you and I BOTH know that bama is not living in no Compton.

Keep it real.

Pardon my ignorance but didn't Jezzy prove this quote wrong on his own site by saying he was never down for McCain?

Cut the bullshit, Average Bro. You have told me that I write dumb stuff on your blog. And I don't need you reading none of my shit out of curiosity. Read it if you want to but you don't owe me a damn thing.

I have not attained the success that you had when you were at your 6 month mark, but it doesn't matter. It's about me expressing how I feel.

I was just joking my dude. But it is like you try to call me out ("Black male bloggers talking about Obama"). Seriously. Just call people out. Or don't take other peoples' opinions so seriously.

I'm starting to wonder Who's 34 and who's 24. You're making me look older.

It's all just jokes man. Take some of your own advice that you've given me and stop taking shit so seriously all the time.

Why would McCain go to the hood? Nobody black is going to listen to what he has to say and everyone knows that. Unfortunately lowering (or raising taxes) doesnt effect people who dont pay taxes in the first place. Why would Obama go into the hood? He is educated and successful without being in entertainment or an athelete and therefore offensive to blacks as well. He is a sellout right? Seriously, does Shaquita want to hear about getting an education or how school choice could send her son D'Paul to a better school? Nope. Does D'Tom, D'Dick or D'Harry want to hear about getting an education, job or taking care of little D'Tom Jr, Lil D'Dick Jr or Lil D'Harry? No. Its a monumental waste of time for either of them to go to the hood and say anything. There is no need to care about people who could care less about themselves. Before you get started, Im not talking about the talented tenth. People like AB will do fine regardless. I am talking about the other 90%

Slow your roll young fella.

For the umpteenth time...

I ONLY READ YOUR BLOG WHEN YOU COME HERE AND DROP PLUGS!

I DID NOT READ YOUR POST ABOUT OBAMA!

I WAS NOT TALKING ABOUT YOU IN MY RECENT POST ABOUT OBAMA CRITICS!

I DO NOT APPRECIATE YOU SENDING HATE MAIL TO MY DAY JOB ACCOUNT! DO NOT PULL THAT SH*T AGAIN!

What part of the game do you not understand, kid? This isn't rocket science. I was NOT talking about you! I don't think about you. Sheez.

Get a hobby. A girlfriend. A clue. A life. Something.

Whatever the case, please save me the trouble of deleting your comments and stay off the comment boards here at AB.com!!!

I already booted you off once when you talked sh*t about other female commenters a few months ago. I have NO idea why I allowed you to start posting comments here again. That was truly a mistake.

Do us ALL a favor and please get lost!
