All I can say, is this is one sad day for Black America.
A Chicago jury has acquitted R. Kelly on all counts at his child pornography trial.Damn. I'm just speechless. Speechless.
The verdict came six years after the R&B superstar was first charged with videotaping himself having sex with a young girl. Prosecutors had said she was as young as 13 at the time.
Kelly had faced a maximum 15 years in prison. Both Kelly and the now 23-year-old alleged victim had denied they were the ones appearing on the tape, which was played for the jury at the beginning and end of the trial.
The prosecution's star witness was a woman who said she engaged in three-way sex with Kelly and the girl from the video. Defense attorneys argued the man on the tape didn't have a large mole on his back, as Kelly does.
Question: What are your thoughts on this verdict?

Not surprised at all. Hey this is America, and R.Kelly sure makes a lot of other people money.
This is funnier and sadder than Clay Davis quoting "Prom-i-thees Bound" by A-silly-us. (his pronunciation, not mine.)
I guess it's a step in the right direction when wealthy black people can pervert the justice system just like rich whites, right?
(Uncle Ruckus Music)Ummm... Arent you darkies supposed to be cheering because its RKelly who got off and not "The Man?".. (End Uncle Ruckus Music) Just joking... Seriously this is F'd up. But I question who really who got hurt here? The girl? Nope. It was definitely not her first time.
I'm not surprised one bit. I was really surprised it made it to trial, actually.
True story ... when I heard the verdict on the radio, I accidently burned myself with my curling iron. I'm stunned. Completely stunned.
It bothers me because Kelly has a disturbing pattern of behavior. It also bothers me because pedophilia is such a taboo topic in the Black community. Everyone knows at least one person who was abused as a child. We sit up here and say that "it's a White people problem" but it isn't ... hopefully, this will lead to an open dicussion about sexuality in the Black community, especially pertaining to young girls. When I see grown men cat-call to 12,13 year old girls, it makes me sick to my stomach because I was on of those girls. We need to address this problem.
And I also think that the media is looking at the African-American community's reaction to the verdict. If they see anything remotely O.J. Simpson, it's going to be a burden on us and our image in this nation. Personally, I was ashamed of the reactions that many gave when O.J. was "acquitted". People are WAITING to see how we're going to react.
Ciara: Please get all of that said!
(sorry about your burn, though)
I was one of those girls that "developed" early. My body looked 20 when I was only 12. However, at 12 I still had the mind and face of a child and my parents made sure I dressed like one, too. It would creep me out when GROWN men would leer and call me out on the street, especially when some of my neighbors (again, GROWN ass men) would make lude comments to me when I walked home from school. They knew from the jacked up ponytail on the side of my damn head that I wasn't grown, but they did it anyway because they knew they could get away with it. For some reason I thought if I told my dad about it he would somehow blame me. Looking back on it, I should've told my father because I know he would've put a beat down on those same negroes.
This verdict is just another memo to Black women that it sucks to be us. We've got to send a message that it's not ok to have the R.Kellys of the world in our communities.
@daedalus,
So the girl isn't hurt because she wasn't a virgin?? I've said about a billion times how problematic I find that line of reasoning. I know I'm probably not going to change your mind, but I think it is nothing short of abuse when grown men, who KNOW in ADVANCE that they are dealing with a child, still use that child for their sexual pleasure.
I'm disgusted by this verdict! Black girls, sucks to be you.
This is the remix edition
of the song about pissin'...
Boondocks got it right..
This is just horrible just horrible. It goes to show that Justice in this country can be bought with the right amount of cash and connections
Huey Freeman was RIGHT!
It's strange when an animated cartoon can predict the verdict of this trial three years in advance.
Barring the inclusion of lawyer quality, jurors usually use the following formula for black musicians:
Good Music & Money = Acquittals.
Ask Snoop. (Chronic & Doggystyle)
Bad Music & Money = Jailtime
Ask Trick Daddy, Remy Ma & Black Rob.
They must have been playing 12 Play and Chocolate Factory in the
juror's room.

What has happened to America?
It used to be that we could convict a black man on the FLIMSIEST evidence, and now, look at us! OJ goes free, Condoleeza Rice lies constantly and no one stops her, and now we have video-tape of R. Kelly doing some "P on U" action and we cannot even convict?
As a rich, Southern white male, I am appalled. Oh, appalled means 'angry', in case you don't know.
To be honest, I didn't think he belonged in prison to begin with. I never saw the tape, so I can't say if it was him or not, but having sex with a 15, 16 yr old girl should not be illegal in my honest opinion. Now if she's 12, that's another story, but shouldn't the parents of these young girls, AND THE GIRLS THEMSELVES, be charged in some way for their parts in these sexual acts? Fact remains though, it is illegal and if R. Kelly did have sex with her, if he had been convicted, I would not have had a problem with that either.
I give props to Kelly's defense team. They earned their money.
Okay....what I find amazing and mind blowing is that soooo many people have a comment on how "they can't believe it!!!", "he's guilty"....etc...I read on another blog that "black men always get off on these types of crimes??!!!!
What I find amazing is that all of y'all have seen the dang "sex tape". I've never seen it and never had a desire to see it so, I have no clue if it was him or not!
holla
I just want to ask..
How many people with the comments above actually watched the Tape?
I guess we all didn't see what we knew we saw. HUM!
hey...if rob lowe can get away with it, why can't r. kelly?! (sarcasm intended)
i was not surprised at all at the verdict.
I'm going to say this and I don't care how it sounds; if that girl was white his ass would've been locked up from the time the tapes were exposed, and it wouldn't have been a 6-7 years for a trial. He would've had one of those speedy-throw-the-book-at-his- black-ass/ the-fool-never-knew- what-hit-him-type trials.
He'll do it again, that's simply the nature of a pedophile, and when he gets away with it that time he'll do it again. If he's got any sense(rub a lamp), however, he'll keep the video camera out of it from now on. I predict that he's going to try the wrong little girl and her daddy is going to give him something hot. In conclusion, "EFF" R Kelly, "Eff" him right up his ugly hairy butt. And "eff" the US court system, and the jury and any other mofo that had something to do with this travesty. Karma playing out the way it does, they'll pay for this in unimaginable ways, I just hope it happens in my lifetime.
Miss Gyspyeyes,
You're preaching to the choir!!! Damn, I couldn't said it any better. If those girls on the tapes resembled the Oslen Twins ...this negro would have BEEN locked up seven years ago. I always said that. And if the underage minors on the tapes were BOYS ...his record-buying public would not be supporting him, I'll tell you that.
Good thing Kelly, like the vast majority of brothers, like sistas because he'd did what he did with a snow bunny or a little boy ...he'd be up shit's creek in more ways than one!!!
Man, our future generations are screwed, they are not transfixed to believe that you can get away with absolutely ANYTHING as long as money is involved, continuing this M.O.E mentality, with the fierceness of a new religion that seems to be growing at the pace of AIDs and Cancer patients, all this to say, we do need CHANGE...desperately
check out my further rants on this topic on http://flywithbats.wordpress.com
Lawdy...Jesus, be a fence!! Kells is a nasty lil' pedophile, but he can't go to jail cuz too many white folks would lose money. The end.
There is a big difference between "innocent" and "not guilty", word to O.J. Simpson. And much like that particular cabbage-head negro, Robert Kelly will screw up again (baby girls are born everyday), and the NEXT time, it's a wrap. He bet not do so much as sing an effin' nursery rhyme out here, or he will be strung up from the highest tree they can find. And Lawd have mercy on his trifling little soul if he decides he wants to diddle w/a a lil' white girl. He will get lynched on a live Fox News broadcast event.
OJ ain't do it. I was not there, I did not follow the case. Was he proven guilty? Get over it. OJ is not a burden on anyone's image in the public.
R. Kelly trial?!?
One. Do you watch child pornography? If you heard there was a sex tape with . . . Whitney Houston and Chris Brown, would you purchase the DVD on the streets? If Tyson Beckford defecated on young Keke Palmer, would you watch, share and/or investigate the DVD? Sounds disgusting for sure, but is this not a case involving child pornography? On top of that, there's a golden shower involved.
Hey AB, do you? Discuss? Pun intended :-)
Two, is the child's parents going to be brought before the court for reckless endangerment of a child or something? Would you leave your child alone with an adult relative that shares not family ties? I wouldn't leave a child alone with family member for too long, because you never know. (I don't have kids.)
Three, child molestation is a taboo in many communities. If it happens to boys, it is really swept under the rug and not disclosed or discussed. Grown men hollering at underage girls is sad.
I can't believe the defining characteristic of R. Kelly is a mole on his back according to his defense.
Someone had to say "You've got a point there, there's no mole. Obviously this is not R. Kelly!"
The sad thing about this is, there's no way I can blame this on the white man.
What am I saying? Of course I can.
to those that said that had the girl been white, R. Kelly would have been in jail...the opposite is true as well. Had R. Kelly been white, Sharpton and Jackson would have been raising hell for the past 6 years and would have been raising hell now that the verdict came back. They would have been saying how racist the justice system is that a trial took this long to decide. they would have said that the justice system was jacked up when a man that anyone can plainly see is the accused, gets off scott-free.
So where are Sharpton and Jackson now that a clearly guilty man is walking free after raping a 13 year old girl.
This whole thing makes me sick to my stomach and it says a lot about how BOTH communities would have acted differently had the victim or accuser been of a different hue. There is a lot of blame to go around here.
The verdict made me think of one of the final scenes in "A time to Kill" when Matthew McCaughey made his final argument describing the torture Samuel L. Jacksons daughter went through...and at the end he says, "now imagine it was a little white girl." Mr. Jackson was acquitted on killing the men who raped his daughter. I believe Mr. Kelly would never think twice about violating a white girl in such a way.
Black women who express glee at the decision sadden me. A true MAN would never take advantage of a Black girl (a young black female - the symbolic mother of the world) if he was a man. A child under the age of 16 cannot consent to sexual intercourse with someone over the age of 16 - it is rape.
Children are bombarded with messages about sexuality, without and they don't have the mental maturity to distinguish what behavior is appropriate. That why the adult should act in a responsible manner.
