When Girl Rappers Attack

Nigga Nonsense Week continues...

Do the ladies run this mutha mutha... heck yeah. Today at least.

Never one to run from trouble, completely irrelevant raptress Foxy Brown caught yet another case last night. Yawn.

Rapper Foxy Brown was charged with smacking her longtime neighbor with her Blackberry cell phone in the Prospect Heights section of Brooklyn last month.

According to reports the 27-year-old, whose real name is Inga Marchand, turned herself in to detectives at the 77 Precinct at around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. She was charged with felony assault, menacing, harassment and criminal possession of a weapon. Brown was arraigned last night and released on $5,000 bail. Her next court date is Sept. 26.

Police say the trouble-prone rapper, who is on parole, was accused of assaulting her 25-year-old neighbor on July 30 at around 6:50 p.m. at the corner of Carlton Avenue and Prospect Place.
So, Fox Boogie, who hasn't had a hit since... damn, she ain't had no parts of a hit since Touch Me Tease Me, and I was still in college then. When your rap sheet is longer than your Rap Sheet, maybe it's time to pick another career. I hear UPS is hirin', Inga. Give em' a call.

This has hardly been a banner year for rap chicks.

Remy Ma allegedly tries to off her ex-stylist for stealing from her purse.

Lil' Kim, already fresh out the click, is now dating Ray J, which means a sex adult themed tape is coming sooner than you can say "licky licky".

Eve can't lay off the booze after her shitty UPN show was canned. Oh, she had a sex adult themed tape leaked too.

Khia (the one hit wonder behind the classic hit My Neck, My Back, a song so filthy, you'll need a tetanus shot when you're finished listening to it) is a walking mugshot.

Jackie-O (the one hit wonder behind the classic hit, My Nookie) is a hot ghetto mess as always.

Trina (the one hit wonder behind the classic hit.... uhh???) loses a $300k home to foreclosure.

Kelis, who isn't a rapper, but married one for good measure, gets arrested for screaming racial profanities at cops. (seriously, WTF?)

We all know how screwed up Lauryn Hill is.

Surely I'm missing someone here, but do we really need any more examples?

Women have always fought for equal treatment in hip-hop, since way back when Roxanne Roxanne battled UTFO. When the female rap game went from "chicks with skills" (think Jean Grae and Bahamadia) to "trickin' on wax" (think Foxy & Lil' Kim) in the mid-90's, I wondered what the long term effect would be. Alas, with rap music hardly selling nowadays, it's only logical that female rappers would end up on the ass end of the pyramid. Sadly enough, these ladies only have themselves to blame. And thus, Lil' Mama is about as good at it gets nowadays. When songs about Lip Gloss are the best you can offer, it's no wonder that girl rappers stay losing.

MC Lyte is crying inside.
