Thank God For Bleach, Silicone, and DexaTrim...

...because if those things weren't invented, a chick like this might literally starve to death.

During last week's pageant, Miss Teen South Carolina Lauren Caitlin Upton was asked why one-fifth of Americans couldn't find USA on a map.

"I personally believe that US Americans are unable to do so because some people out there in our nation don't have maps," she said tentatively.

She also made random references to South Africa, "Asian countries" and "the Iraq", and said they needed support from the American educational system. Upton told South Carolina's The State newspaper she "completely misunderstood" the question and "didn't do anything wrong". "I wasn't expecting (the question). I lost my train of thought."

A video of the incident has become a YouTube hit, with almost three million hits since last week's pageant. Despite the fumble, Upton came third in the Miss Teen USA competition.
You sorta feel bad for the girl. I mean, what the hell kinda question is that anyway? I just might have gotten a little frazzled myself.

On the other hand, considering this is the "make it or break it moment", it's somewhat of a shame that somebody can so terribly butcher such an answer? All she had to say was "I value education... blah blah blah... children are our future... blah blah... teachers should be paid more...blah blah... I'd really like to spend one evening with Martin Luther King..."

She's a peroxide blonde. Nobody expected much of her, but by rambling incessantly about how poor education is in South Africa, Iraq, and Asia (WTH?), she revealed herself to be far more of a bubblehead than anyone could have possibly imagined.

Anna Nicole Smith is crying inside.
